B"H
To our dear friends
To our dear friends, may Hashem bless you all!
Thank you to all those who have reached out to us since yesterday.
As we prepare for Chanukah at the Legislature, we are heartbroken and shocked by the news of the terrorist massacre at Chabad's Menorah Lighting at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia.
We mourn the loss of two of our dear colleagues and fellow Shluchim, Rabbi Eli Schlanger and Rabbi Yaakov Levitan along with all the other victims, may G-d comfort and strengthen all of their families. We pray, as well, for the speedy recovery of all those injured.
The goal of terror is to instill fear, and our enemies want to put out our light.
We must respond with more light than ever before.
At this moment of darkness, it is even more important to unite and light up the night.
Tomorrow’s event at the Legislature WILL take place, Be'ezrat Hashem, G-d willing.
We are in close contact with the RPS, the RCMP and Legislature Security who will be there- indoors and outdoors- with extra presence. They are currently reviewing their internal protocol to ensure everyone's safety at this event.
When lighting your Chanuka candles tonight, please think of our brothers and sisters in Australia, Israel, and around the world, and pray for Moshiach when there will be peace and safety everywhere!
At times like this we should increase even more in light and acts of goodness and kindness, Torah and Mitzvot. If you know of anyone that needs a Menorah or candles please feel free to reach out. We have many to share and want to bring more light to the world!
Feel free to reach out to us.
Am Yisrael chai!
Happy and safe Chanukah, with love from our family to yours,
Rabbi Avrohom & Shterna Simmonds
