**An Upshernish/Chalakah is the traditional first hair-cutting ceremony held on a boy's 3rd birthday. This ceremony is highlighted by the child starting to learn the Aleph Bet and beginning to wear a Kippah and Tzitzit (four cornered fringed garment). For more details on an Upsherin, click here.
